My D&D articles: http://www.examiner.com/dungeo... art: http://repsesper.deviantart.co... think everyone should try DMing at some point, it can be a lot of fun (and it gives your regular DM a break)

Hey I'm a new dm and I play 3rd edition so do you have any tips for me? I need some tips for making a campaign because every week I have to spend a total of 10 hours to make a campaign and then they turn out terrible. My weak points are in description and storyline

You people who are new to D&D are so lucky. We didn't have the internet in the eighties, and winged it or subscribed to publications like Dungeon or Dragon to get all this info. Lots of great advice online now.

After watching a few of these videos I have found places in my game where some of these tips can be used, and I never even thought about it.

@boardgamenerd Yeah, I agree. Nice video, but 4th edition D&D tries to hard to be a table-top MMO. Still to each their own. You should try Pathfinder...amazing...what 3.5 should have been.

Wow this game has changed, turn to this page, turn to that page, 10 encounters per level. What the...? my first DM experience was taking a single player through the old in search of the unknown module, played over the phone of all things, the player spent maybe an hour making it down the first corridor while being attacked by a wererat. Wasn't to the letter of the law, not even close, but hell it was fun. Forget the rules, they're just a guide but always be consistent.

I highly prefer version 3 and 3.5 to 4, and I've been DMing for 5 years, but I still found these tips useful. Thank you!

I like running a quick campaign for new players by just leveling them every other session. That way you are either playing with your new character sheet, or leveling your sheet at the end of the session. It's great for new DMs too, because then your encounters write themselves. Like the video said, the DMG says 10 encounters per level, so you can spread them around the 2 sessions either having a boss fight each session of the same level, or level halfway to get enough power. It's really flexible

Thanks for the tips! I've just started playing D&D and I jumped straight into the deep end and became the DM for our group of new players. I'm anxious to get it right!
