Also "bullet proof vests" are not actually "bullet proof" they are bullet resistant or in layman's terms they slow down or stop bullets from .22 cal to .44 magnum. And for that class IIIA small arms vest to stop a shotgun or a 7.62x39mm it better have ceramic plates or 3" thick steel plates.

Firs of all I love Mythbusters, but a .50cal standard ball round will punch through 1 1/2" plate steel wit no problem... And don't get me started on anti armor and anti personel and anti tank, ect.........No it wont blow you throuh the air if you are wearing armor cause its a .50 cal and will cut you in half and leave a red stain. Its a .50.cal......7.62x39 will throw you through the air if you are wearing armor, but only if you are wearing ceramic armor plates.
